At a time of unrelenting attacks on reproductive autonomy, the Food and Drug Administration’s decision on July 13 to approve a birth control pill for over-the-counter (OTC) use is an important advance toward providing people with tools to control their fertility. This includes preventing unwanted pregnancy. The other day I had to pull off to the side of the road to yield right-of-way to an ambulance. It was stressful as I didn’t see or hear the ambulance until I pulled out in front of it. A friend’s mother accidentally turned out in front of an ambulance and was subsequently pulled over by the police for the infraction. Often, you’re in traffic and cannot get out of the way while an ambulance is behind you blasting its horn as you try to move.

Obamacare Doesn’t Want Competition from Better Insurance Plans

The Biden Administration announced a final rule limiting the type of health insurance Americans are allowed to buy:

HHS, the Treasury Department and the Department of Labor issued proposed rules on Friday that clamp down on short-term limited duration health plans, which offer cheap but sparse coverage that Democrats deride as “junk insurance.” The rule, which is meant to protect consumers and bolster the Obamacare exchange, would overturn a 2018 Trump-era regulation and satisfies liberal lawmakers and patient groups who have demanded the administration act since its first days in the White House.
