Tuesday Links

Posted on December 31, 2024December 31, 2024 by John C. Goodman

Evidence that families’ decision to have children are influenced by which party wins the presidency.

AHIP: two years of consecutive cuts to Medicare Advantage is why many seniors are now experiencing a reduction in coverage choices, higher costs and reduced benefits.

Teen alcohol and drug use keeps declining. (Despite 24 states legalizing recreational cannabis.)

Hispanic versus non-Hispanic White gaps were smaller in Medicare Advantage than in traditional Medicare for all outcomes: avoidable emergency department use, preventable hospitalizations, and thirty-day hospital readmissions. Results are mixed for White/Black comparisons.

MSA in Medicare ENDS TODAY! Texas Governor George W. Bush won the Ames Straw Poll in 1999 in the Hilton Coliseum by saying, “I believe in more options, more choices, more FREEDOM in Medicare, including Medicare Savings Accounts (MSA). Mission Accomplished and the AMA’s “Private For Profit” arm called Zing Health bought Lasso MSA in 32 states and is quietly shutting it down TODAY! December 31, 2024, and not one newspaper or media outlet has informed the American people!

The Medicare MSA paid 100% of the senior’s premiums and deposited $3,000 annually into the Senior MSA at the bank on January 1st of each year. Also, by federal law, MSA seniors may choose between doctors and hospitals! This means the Medicare MSA is the Solution to Medicare’s pre-existing problem.

Medicare MSA didn’t utilize preauthorization so that Lasso MSA couldn’t say NO!

AARP and United Healthcare (UHC) couldn’t buy Lasso MSA and shut it down to eliminate Medicare Advantage HMOs and AARP’s Medicare Supplement competition. The UHC CEO would cry, “It’s not fair; the Medicare MSA is like paying seniors $3,000 annually not to join a deadly Hillary-style HMO that pays ZERO out-of-network!”

So AHIP, AMA, and Zing Health bought Lasso MSA in 32 States and are shutting it down today without one Republican politician in America saying a word! Talk about controlled media!

Goodbye, Medicare MSA in 32 states, and yet the Medicare MSA lives in Wisconsin! Interesting right? Our politicians and non-taxed think tanks suck.

Well said Ron, it’s also the blue print to fixing the ACA with Voluntary age base tax credits. It would only save a few trillion dollars a year . https://www.einnews.com/amp/pr_news/635468843/the-msa-in-medicare-the-blueprint-for-bipartisan-national-health-care-reform

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.
