Gender affirming care: In 2021, around 42,000 kids between 6 and 17 were diagnosed with gender dysphoria. At most, around 7,000 a year initiate some kind of potentially irreversible process. This comes out to about 1 in 7,000 kids.

Thanks for posting the Bill Barr article; he is “right on.”

His numbers are a little off. In 2020 there were 12,000 arrests for murder, 210,000 for robbery, and 380,000 for aggravated assault. (Rape arrests were not available in this report.)

That is quite a bit less than 1% of the population. (which is fine — we do not have enough jails to hold 1% of 330 million.)

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.
