Monday Links

Posted on October 30, 2023October 30, 2023 by John C. Goodman

Who delays care because of cost? Only 29% with employer coverage; 37% with Obamacare; 39% with Medicaid and 42% with Medicare.

Given an average waiting time of 2½ hours before being discharged, how can there be too many emergency care physicians?

The “surprise billing” solution isn’t working: Only 4% of the roughly 90,000 payment disputes initiated between April and September have been resolved.

A CMS rule change will lead to $700 million less savings than the CBO estimated when evaluating the act that allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices.

COMMENT: Surprise Billing SOLUTION was a Lie. Hillary-style HMOs pay NOTHING when the sick go out of network in a desperate attempt to survive. Surprise…YOU went out of network so YOU get NOTHING! Politicians reduced this huge PROBLEM to EMERGENCY care when you are on vacation, amazing idiots. Emergency coverage was ALREADY the law of the land. What is the definition of EMERGENCY? Does it mean “Life Threatening”? Does the bone sticking out of your arm count? Trust me, you can go to Medicare.gov this second, and under HMOs, it doesn’t say “NOT COVERED” for Out-Of-Network Hospitals it says “Not Applicable.”

Where is the Full and Proper Disclosure that is the law in the Private Sector?

I’m surprised that you haven’t pointed this out before me Dr. Goodman. I know, you wanted me to say it 1st then you will say it. Just like MD Anderson is a non-network provider of all Texas Obamacare plans. Now you are saying it too so I’m not wasting my time.

Dr. Goodman, repeat after me; Tax-free HSA! YOU never say that because you want to tax the only tax-free account, yet you yourself ALWAYS work for Non-Taxed Corporations. Trust me, Dr. Goodman, taxing EVERY dollar saved for retirement is WRONG! YOU big-brother taxing addict.

You’re wrong about the surprise billing law, Ron.

The law changed nothing for the clinics are openly listed as being out of network. If you go to one of them, you should expect to pay more.

The law addressed the sneaky tactic of anesthesiologists, radiologists, pathologists, and ER doctors who were stationed in network facililties…..but they set up outside the insurance system. This let them send outrageous bills to patients who were honorably trying to stay in network.

The law just said, basically, that if you work in a network facility then the patient can assume you are in network.

I’m not wrong. They didn’t address the larger Surprise Billing. Right, Surprise Billing is all about anesthesiologists. It’s just the way politicians lie.

What about Goodman wanting to use Medicare Advantage as the model to replace Obamacare?

Dr. Goodman, just say the BEST tax cut is NO taxes! Cat got your tongue?

Curiously, the above summary is more coherent than the complete original.

    And louder, too!

John, You are the one who sold dangerous and deadly employer-based insurance plans that employees lose when they get too sick to work. You say the were no longer ELIGIBLE. You’re selling with non-licensed HR salesgirls without Full and Proper Disclosure is LEGAL, but disgusting. Plus, you didn’t pay commissions! Sure it is legal what you did John but it was legal in Germany in 1933 too. You must feel bad.

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.

John C. Goodman,
