Thursday Links

Posted on October 19, 2023October 18, 2023 by John C. Goodman

Gingrich and Jindal on the House GOP HSA bills.

96% of CDC’s COVID boosters for kids are still unused.

From Michael Cannon’s new book:  A 2016 study found that Medicare paid low-quality hospitals an average of $2,698 more per patient than it paid high-quality hospitals.

Cato study: decriminalizing prostitution decrease the incidence of rape.

International surveys show that wealthier is happier – but not always. The average Costa Rican is just as happy as the average American.

I have an email from Michael Cannon saying the Federal Government can’t give tax credits for the purchase of health insurance! As if Cannon had 2 brain cells to rub together and get a spark.

Cannon thinks his tax exclusion for health insurance is perfect but employees without his “EMPLOYER-BASED” health insurance should get no tax break, darn communist.

Devon and Dr. Goodman used to support personable and portable insurance but not anymore. It’s sad that when FOX News wanted to have someone talk on HSAs they picked Goodman who was so boring nobody learned anything.

Goodman is the ONLY person is America who wants to tax HSAs, that is so pitiful. Americans finally get a tax-free account and Goodman hates it.

Goodman thinks that every dollar saved should be taxed! ya, some father of the HSA!

I wonder why Cato apparently did not also study the incidence of sexually transmitted disease when prostitution is decriminalized.

International surveys on happiness perhaps did not take into account that Costa Rica is among the happiest countries due to many factors beyond wealth. Costa Rica is relatively wealthy for their area and relatively free of the drug violence and corruption that plagues other Hispanic countries in the region. The philosophy of pura vida is the Costa Rican version of, “don’t worry, be happy!” or “celebrate life.”

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.
