Families making as much as $600,000 can get an Obamacare subsidy. The entire W&M hearing with Sec. Becerra is either very funny or very sad, depending on how the spirit moves you.

Thanks for posting the record of the Ways and Means hearing.
Chairman Smith makes a big deal about $500 billion in coming cuts to Medicare, due to PAYGO after all of Biden’s federal spending.
He does not mention that Congress has voted not to apply to PAYGO to Medicare every single time the issue has come up. Jordon Gray at American Action Forum had a nice piece about this.
The ACA subsidy for someone making $600,000 is super-rare. ACA law says that anyone whose ACA premium exceeds 8.5% of income gets a subsidy. In a very few places, (like Phoenix), the family premium for a couple over age 63 with two children at home can be $53,000 a year. So with an income of $600,000, they would get a subsidy of about $2,000. Not much help, but it is a subsidy..
How an insurer can charge that much to one household is baffling to me. Half the insurance applicants must have cancer.
