Wednesday Links

Age-adjusted deaths from cold are ten times greater than deaths from heat.

The first Generalist Medical AI system is out.

Nate Silver on left-wing bias in the media.

Is there anything wrong with having AI romantic partners? Apparently, yes.

During the Covid pandemic, some hospital ICUs were overloaded, while neighboring hospitals had excess capacity. Worst victims of the lack of market clearing mechanisms: Medicaid enrollees and Blacks.

Yesterday was the 5th Birthday of the Trump Plan because it was born by Executive Order on 8/1/2018. Also, yesterday, 5 years to the day, the Tax-free HSA became available in the Trump Plan in the 1st 6 states, KY, for this fall’s Governor’s Race, S. Carolina, for the early 2024 Election primary vote, Florida, Texas, Alabama and Arizonia.

NOW Bob can quit bitching on what the Trump Plan covers because the HSA is written in stone. Although Bob keeps saying that inpatient and outpatient can’t be covered with the prices I say because they’re too low. Bob suggests that it must be Critical Illness (CI) prices which isn’t true. Bob’s confusion stems from the $30K to bald-headed women on the Trump Plan instead of [kicked in the teeth] with employees’ COBRA premiums being 7 TIMES higher (SCAM). The $30K for heart attack, cancer or stroke is combined with an accident plan with a $250 deductible and collectively it’s called Trimed. Also, we usually quote the Trump Plan package that also includes BETTER DENTAL. It’s in our new MOTTO:

Bob, in the FUTURE when I’m quoting Trump’s Plan HSA I’ll typically be using a $6,000 deductible with 70-30% co-insurance for an additional $1,500 which means a $7,500 Out-Of-Pocket because that is the lowest cost HSA Qualifing option. So far.

So, back in Iowa where everybody is running for President the Trump Plan doesn’t have the tax-free HSA option yet. Yesterday, I sent a 60-second RADIO spot to KMA Radio in Southwest Iowa. It blasts into 4 states but heavy duty IOWA FARMERS with their AG Reports. Also a similiar spot went to KLIN in Lincoln and also, NEW for me, the FROG. This is a HUGE Country Station that hits Omaha. Tulsa, Terra Houte and Evansville blasting into Kentucky. The New website is almost done and it’s SPECTACULAR. It’s Save201.com Here is Iowa’s Spot:

From the linked article about AI partners

“A young man, between 16 and 25 years old, finds it difficult to get romantic partners or casual sex partners.

Isn’t this part of a much wider issue than just romantic or casual sex partners? Isn’t it the same social problems of disassociation and loneliness that extend over all relationships starting with family and friendships?

The difference today is, it seems to me, in preferring companionship from technology, not from real people. Maybe because relationships with real people require more effort on one’s part while technology requires much less.

Young man – “Siri, why do I have so much difficulty finding a romantic partner?

Response: “I’m not Siri. I’m Alexa!”

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.
