I really like the House bill which allows cost-sharing benefits to be converted into HSA deposits.

We have seen in the private sector that unfunded HSA’s are useless to everyone. If it takes the taxpayers to fund these HSA’s, well so be it.

(I think that as governor of Indiana, Mike Pence proposed taxpayer-funded HSA’s for Medicaid recipients.)

As with all HSA’s, there is a big downside if you go into the hospital in the first year or two of the program. Your deductible might be $5,000 but your monthly-funded HSA might only have $600 in it.

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.
