Monday Links

You’re not just likely to get the coronavirus; you’re likely to get it again and again and again.

Healthcare Economist reaches 5,000 posts.

Against Biden’s fix for the “family glitch.”

Is monkeypox a “gay disease”?

Most ideas for preventing school shootings are unlikely to work.

With a bit of your DNA, scientists can predict the color of your skin and your hair and even your eyes.

Two years ago I mentioned that I was afraid Covid would become endemic and be passed around like the common cold. It will probably mutate and change every few months, becoming more deadly one year and milder the next.

fixing the family glitch. holy cow I can’t believe he is executive ordering this!!!
can’t wait to see how this plays out. Employees having $800 a month taken out of their checks can now qualify for tax credits for dependents. I have a few questions.
    1. when people loose expanded tax credits in 2023 what happens to affordability?
    2. Most companies enrolments are not done during the ACA open enrolment period so very few will be able to switch because they already elected family coverage and can’t make a change without a life qualifying event.
    3. how will subsidizes be clawed back for under estimating income? currently you go over 400% you owe it all back.
    4. why would anyone get coverage for their dependents from an employer sponsored plan when anyone under 400% of poverty can get tax credits for dependents? This will drive up premiums for employer plans creating more demand on the individual market and cause individual premiums to increase which in turn will qualify more people for larger credits….
    5. is it just me are these people geniuses?
This is not a few billion$ mistake this is a trillion $ mistake:)

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.
