I remember government cheese. My grandparents picked up a five pound block of it once, and we all got to try some. As I recall it had the flavor of Velveeta and the texture of cheese, more or less. I doubt that anyone ever finished it off before it went bad.

Regarding Uwe Reinhardt’s piece, I can’t believe anyone still believes that one party is better than the other on deficit spending. There seems to be a sort of Moore’s law in place, where each successive administration sees a doubling of the national debt. This trend could probably continue for a long time into the future, if measured in nominal dollars.

For many years, our health care blog was the only free enterprise health policy blog on the internet. Then, when the NCPA closed its doors, the health blog stopped as well.

During this five-year hiatus no one else has come forward to claim the space. So, my colleagues and I have decided to restart the blog in connection with the Goodman Institute. We invite you and others to use this forum to share your views.
